Lifestyle brand Orange Tree, founded by Second Generation Entrepreneur, Mr Gaurav Jain, is the retail arm of Basant
--- a major export house that has been designing and manufacturing contemporary furniture, lighting and décor for 20
plus countries worldwide for over 25 years, including industry-giants like West Elm, Pottery Barn, Zara Home, and Crate
& Barrel among others.
Armed with a keen understanding of global quality specifications and design aesthetics, down to the finest nuances
of hues and forms, Mr Gaurav decided to offer Indian consumers the same designs, finesse, and longevity as its export
counterparts. Thus, Orange Tree was born in 2014.
Driven by a strong environmentally conscious philosophy, all products at Orange Tree are designed in-house with a
focus on uniqueness, sustainability and experimentation. The USP of the brand is furniture products made from an
array of materials like wood (Acacia, Oak, Teak, Sheesham, Mango), metal, stone, ceramic, paper mache, bamboo,
jute and cane; creating designs that are contemporary and minimalistic in form but handcrafted in spirit.
Orange Tree prides itself as a brand that leads with its heart, nurtures the soul, and celebrates the spirit of design
while trying to balance the ecosystem and the economy. Our products embrace the essence of minimalism and offer
a harmony of contemporary design and environmental responsibility.
Over time, this craftsmanship has evolved and developed into industrial production in our narration, inviting in new
shapes, references and influences from contemporary design, bringing innovation to every step of the design process.
Our expansive 9,35,000 square feet state-of-the-art production facility houses dedicated wood, stone and metal
workshops, an automated finishing area, an expanded upholstery section and testing labs under one roof.
Sustainability is a way of life at Orange Tree where 75 per cent of power consumption is fueled by solar energy; we
have a robust rain harvesting facility, a mechanism for recycling sawdust and using it as a fuel in kiln for drying the
raw wood, besides running an active plantation project since our inception in which we plant 5000 higher category
Sheesham saplings every year.
Presently, Orange Tree has four retail outlets in Jodhpur, Hyderabad ,Bengaluru and Ahemdabad .

The Vernacular Modern (earlier known as woodlabs) is design studio working closely with an ever growing community of artisans who truly believes in holding on to the our vernacular wisdom and craft with an intent to bring back this knowledge as a part of our everyday living. 

The aim is to revive simple practices which are concious and sutainable to our surrounding, without compromising modern luxuries of life. 

At its core, "The Vernacular Modern"  draws its inspiration from profound connection to its cultural heritage, blending it with thoughtful creativity. 

Founded by Abhirup Dutta, an architect and product designer based in Bangalore, and Deeptashree Saha, an interior designer, and stylist hailing from Calcutta, Woodlabs is a homage to artisanal values and a slower, more intentional way of life.

Abhirup Dutta's inspiration stems from his grandfather's renowned "karkhana," a workshop celebrated for repairing and retrofitting components of Satyajit Ray's film cameras.

On the other hand, Deeptashree Saha brings her extensive experience in art, architecture, and the aesthetics of an evolving vernacular setting to the table. Her humble childhood growing up in a developing town allowed her to observe the transition in vernacular fabric.

Her education and subsequent work allowed her to hone her passion for the spaces and sharpen her
aesthetic as a collector and connoisseur of rural craft. This journey allows her to find a balance between traditional vernacular taste and modern aesthetics.

Together, they lovingly craft each piece with a generous amount of time and care.
